Thomas Fearn

Thomas Fearn (1789-1863) was a prominent figure in early Huntsville, Madison County. As a physician, he is generally credited with discovering the healing properties of quinine for preventing and treating malaria. Fearn and his brothers were also important in developing the infrastructure of Hunstville, creating the Indian Creek Canal connecting Huntsville‚Äôs Big Spring to the Tennessee River and rebuilding the city’s water systems.
