Charles Lefebvre-Desnouettes

Charles Lefebvre-Desnouettes (1773-1821) was one of the leading founders of the Vine and Olive Colony, established in 1817 near present-day Demopolis, Marengo County. A native of Paris, France, he was professional soldier who led various regiments during the French Revolution and the Napoleonic Wars in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries prior to his relocation to North America.
