James McCrory Land Grant

James McCrory (1758-1840) served during the American Revolution with a small unit of selected soldiers tasked with protecting Gen. George Washington. After the war, he relocated to Vienna, a small settlement in Pickens County, near Tuscaloosa, Tuscaloosa County, and raised cotton. This 1820 document is the grant from the U.S. government deeding his original forty acres in Pickens County, to which he would add several hundred more.
