Marengo County native Onnie Lee Logan (1910?-1995) was as a midwife in Mobile County for three decades. Her work gained national attention with the publication of the book Motherwit: An Alabama Midwife’s Story, which collected a series of oral histories with Logan by scholar Katherine Clark.
