Artists Charles Smith and Frank Ledbetter pose with Memory Keeper at the sculpture's dedication ceremony at Africatown Heritage House on February 3, 2023. The Mobile-based sculptors collaborated on the piece, which is nine feet high and fabricated from welded stainless steel. It is adorned with symbols significant to the kidnapped victims of the Clotilda, including a side with 110 emblems representing each of them.
