Westover is located in north-central Shelby County in the central part of the state. It has a mayor/city council form of government.
History

Westover did not incorporate until 2001; since then, the town has grown from 2.5 square miles to more than 22 square miles.
Demographics
According to 2016 Census estimates, Westover recorded a population of 1,315. Of that number, 91.9 percent of respondents identified themselves as white, 8.7 percent as Hispanic or Latino, 1.7 percent as African American, 1.1 percent as Asian, 0.6 percent as two or more races, and 0.2 percent as Native American. The town's median household income was $65,295, and the per capita income was $27,504.

Students in Westover attend Shelby County schools; no public schools lie within the town limits.
Transportation
U.S. Highway 280/State Highway 38 runs east-west through Westover; County Road 55 runs southwest-northeast through town. Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport is located about 23 miles northwest of Wilsonville.
Events and Places of Interest

Westover lies approximately ten miles southwest of Logan Martin Lake, which provides the opportunity for a wide range of water sports, and approximately ten miles east of Oak Mountain State Park.
The town holds an annual Christmas parade. It also maintains Westover Park, which features youth soccer fields, a playground, athletic fields, picnic facilities, and a playground.
