Wright's Field

The Wright Brothers founded the country's first flight school in Montgomery in 1910, where Orville Wright recorded the first powered flight in Alabama. In 1918 the site became a repair depot for the Army Air Corps, and today it is the site of Maxwell Air Force Base and Gunter Annex.
