William B. Bankhead (1874-1940) was one of the most influential politicians in Alabama's history. He was a member of the powerful Bankhead family, which included U.S. congressmen John Hollis Bankhead and John H. Bankhead II, actress Tallulah Bankhead, politician and businessman Walter William Bankhead, and Marie Bankhead Owen, second director of the Alabama Department of Archives and History.
