William B. Bankhead Taking Oath of Office

William B. Bankhead served as the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1936-40. He supported legislation championed by Pres. Franklin D. Roosevelt, including the Fair Labor Standards Act, which improved the lives of American workers.
