Dating from 1919, College Night at the University of Montevallo, in Montevallo, Shelby County, is one of the oldest continuous homecoming celebrations in the United States. Central to the festivities are the competing musical theater productions staged by teams of "Golds" and "Purples." In 1959, Gold Side's show, The Right or Left of N.B. Tween, produced by Barbara Walker and Jean Findlay, was declared winner.
