Thomas Haughey

Thomas Haughey (1826-1869), a native of Scotland, settled in Alabama in 1841 and trained as a physician. A staunch Unionist, he opposed secession and served in the U.S. Army during the Civil War. This photograph was taken during his military service in the early 1860s. He later went on to serve Alabama in the U.S. Congress.
