The community and school building at the Prairie Farms Resettlement Community in Macon County in 1939. The school, named the Tuskegee Institute Prairie Farms Laboratory School, encompassed a classroom building, athletic facilities, shops, and a health center. Classes ranged from grades 1 through 9, and students could also participate in running the school newspaper, working in the campus cooperative store, and joining social, academic, and 4-H clubs.
