Genevieve Southerland's portrait of Hannah Elliott, an art teacher from Birmingham and fellow member of the Dixie Art Colony. Southerland arrived at the colony in 1942 after a career as an art teacher in Washington County. In her early life, she lived in Mobile and studied there under Roderick Dempster MacKenzie.
