Orfelia fultoni

Orfelia fultoni is a bioluminescent fly larva, often called a "glow worm," that is found in the southeastern United States. The animals, shown here, have a "lantern" on each end of their wormlike bodies. In Alabama, these invertebrates are known as "dismalites" because they are found in Dismals Canyon National Natural Landmark in Franklin County.
