Neamathla

Neamathla, shown here in a lithograph from McKenney and Hall's History of the Indian Tribes of North America (1837-44), was a leader of the Hitchiti, a tribe allied with the Creek Confederacy. The Hitchiti lived in what is now west-central Georgia along the Chattahoochee River until their removal in the early nineteenth century. Neamathla and other tribal leaders led attacks on white settlers in the region during the Second Creek War of 1836.
