James Wilkinson (1757-1825) was an American military leader who commanded forces that captured Fort Charlotte in Mobile, present-day Mobile County, from the Spanish and for establishing Fort Bowyer at Mobile Point, Baldwin County, during the War of 1812.He was also exposed as a double agent working for the Spanish crown.
