Ohioan Mildred Nungester was raised in Decatur, Morgan County, and had a career as a public school teacher. She joined the Dixie Art Colony in 1935. This oil painting from 1936 shows a view of the colony's camp location on Lake Jordan just east of Deatsville in Elmore County.
