Martin Luther King Jr. speaks at First African Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa on March 8, 1964. King came to the city to participate in the installation of the church’s new pastor, T. Y. Rogers, a protégé and former student of King’s. During the sermon, King also called for the start of the Tuscaloosa civil rights campaign.
