Linear Cobalt Crayfish

The linear cobalt crayfish (Cambarus gentryi) is a burrowing species known to excavate shallow burrows along the margins of small streams. It was previously known only from central Tennessee around Nashville but in recent years has been found increasingly farther out in the Highland Rim. In Alabama, it is so far known only from the Shoal Creek system in Lauderdale County.
