Poplar Grove, built around 1814, was the home of LeRoy Pope, a businessman who was one of the founders of the city of Huntsville. The Greek Revival mansion was a centerpiece of what Pope initially called the town of Twickenham. It is now a contributing property to the Twickenham Historic District, added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973 and expanded in 2015.
