This mural by artist Missy Miles in Brilliant, Marion County, honors checkers champion Larry Lee Pollard (1944-2016), who held one national checker champion title (2006) and 15 Alabama state checker champion titles. During Brilliant's annual CoalFest, Pollard would play checkers with multiple challengers at one time. The mural was unveiled at the 2017 CoalFest, seven months after Pollard's death.
