John Hollis Bankhead II (1872-1946), son of U.S. congressman and senator John Hollis Bankhead, was an Alabama state legislator and a U.S. senator for Alabama for 15 years. He supported policies to disenfranchise African Americans and poor whites, and later in his career supported New Deal legislation.
