John Archibald Campbell

John Archibald Campbell (1811-1889) was a U.S. Supreme Court Justice from 1853-1861 whose tenure included the Dred Scott v. Sanford decision of 1857 that strengthened the institution of slavery. He was assistant secretary of war for the Confederacy during the Civil War.
