Joe Reed

Conecuh County native Joe L. Reed served as president of the Alabama State Teachers Association from 1964 until it merged into the Alabama Education Association in 1969. He then served for 42 years as associate executive secretary of that organization as it became one of the most powerful public interest groups in Alabama.
