This eight-foot sculpture honoring Jesse Owens, a four-time gold medalist in track and field at the 1936 Olympic Games, is located on the grounds of Jesse Owens Memorial Park in Oakville, Lawrence County. The cast-bronze figure was created by Alabama-based artist Branko Medenica in 1996. The park also hosts a museum with interactive kiosks, a mini-theater showing a film about the 1936 Summer Olympics narrated by Owens, a replica of Owen's birthplace, and other attractions dedicated to the athlete.
