The Alabama Chapter of the National Society of Colonial Dames in America, a national heritage organization, installed this cross-shaped monument in 1909 in Mobile's Bienville Square in honor of Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne, governor of the French colony of Louisiana and founder of Mobile.
