This vintage postcard from around 1940 depicts the cross-shaped monument in Bienville Square placed in honor of Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne, governor of the French colony of Louisiana and founder of Mobile. It was commissioned by the Alabama Chapter of the National Society of Colonial Dames in America, a national heritage organization, and installed in 1909.
