James Jackson Portrait

Irish immigrant James Jackson settled in Lauderdale County in 1818. There, he constructed the notable Greek Revival plantation mansion Forks of Cypress and also bred and raced nationally renowned thoroughbreds. His portrait, shown here, hangs in Pope's Tavern Museum in Florence.
