Harry S. Truman

Harry S. Truman (1884-1972) was the 33rd president of the United States (1945-1953), taking office after the death of Franklin D. Roosevelt. Truman was nominated in the controversial 1948 Democratic National Convention in which the delegates from the Deep South walked out to form the Dixiecrat party.
