Harry Knowles (1928-2020) poses outside Westinghouse's Elkridge integrated circuits facility in Maryland in the 1960s. While at Westinghouse, the Birmingham, Jefferson County, native and Auburn University graduate made advances in the field of molecular electronics, which combines the fields of physics, chemistry, and materials science to produce smaller and smaller circuits and transistors.
