Gen. John C. Persons

Trained as a lawyer at the University of Alabama Law School, John C. Persons (1888-1974) was a decorated infantry officer during World War I, remained in the Alabama National Guard after the war, and served as commander of the Thirty-first "Dixie" Division during World War II. After the war, he returned to Birmingham and had a successful career in the banking industry.
