The First Methodist Church of Union Springs, Bullock County, is a Gothic Revival house of worship first built in 1861 and remodeled to its current appearance in 1903-04. It became the subject of a lawsuit in the 1960s during the civil rights era when the majority of the all-white congregants voted in November 1963 to renounce the national Methodist Church for its support of civil rights and took possession of the church.
