Estelle Witherspoon and her mother, Mama Willie Abrams, pose in front of one of their quilts. A community leader and civil rights activist, Witherspoon served as the first manager of the Freedom Quilting Bee co-op, and her home in Alberta, Wilcox County, served as the base for the organization.
