Site 42 of the Alabama Coastal Birding Trail is located in the Dauphin Island Bird Sanctuary, which encompasses 164 acres of pine forest. It is one of the first places on the trail where migrant birds stop over during migrating seasons. Several trails lead to Gaillard Lake.
