Civil War Raids Map

This map shows the routes taken by the four U.S. Army officers who with their troops conducted raids through Alabama during the American Civil War. The first was carried out by Col. Abel D. Streight between April 19 and May 3, 1863; the second was by Maj. Gen. Lovell H. Rousseau from July 10-22, 1864; the third was by Gen. James H. Wilson from March 22 to April 12, 1865; and the fourth was by Gen. John T. Croxton over the month of April 1865. A fifth brief raid was carried out late in the war by Maj. Gen. Benjamin H. Grierson.
