Ben Chapman (1908-1993) was a baseball player for the New York Yankees and six other Major League Baseball (MLB) teams. He spent his formative years in Birmingham, Jefferson County. Chapman is best remembered today for his volatile temper and his antisemitic and racist taunts against opposing players, including Jackie Robinson.
