Alabamians in the U.S. Navy

The U.S. Navy celebrated its 250th anniversary on October 13, 2025. And Alabama and its people have played a significant role in naval history. From Adm. David Farragut's famed (although disputed) cry of "Damn the torpedoes" during the Battle of Mobile Bay to the continuing ship manufacturing industry at the Port of Mobile, Alabama's connection to U.S. naval power runs deep. That history is detailed in the many exhibits and collections of the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park, located in Mobile, Mobile County. This collection of entries highlights the many Alabamians who have served in the U.S. Navy.
