Alabama and America's 250th Birthday

On July 4, 2026, the United States will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. To mark this milestone, cities and states throughout the nation will host events, exhibits, lecture series, and other commemorations. Alabama may not have played a central role in the founding of the nation, but many people and places in the state had connections to events that shaped the nation’s borders and legal and cultural history. American Village, in Montevallo, has been designated as Alabama’s Semiquincentennial Celebration Capital. The official website for state activities is: https://america250al.org/
