County Line

County Line is located in south-central Blount County and north-central Jefferson County in the central part of the state. It has a mayor/city council form of government.

County Line's name is literal; half the town lies in Jefferson County, and the other half in Blount County. The town incorporated on August 27, 1957, to avoid being annexed and taxed by nearby Trafford, which lies mainly within Jefferson County but also partly in Blount County. On the Blount County side, the Southern Democrat (now called the Blount Countian) referred to County Line as existing within the Pine Mountain community. This community sits on the Blount Mountain Range, which is one of the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Pine Mountain is home to County Line Baptist Church and the County Line Cemetery.
