Birmingham's Young Boozer III (1948- ) has served as the State Treasurer of Alabama since 2011. He took office with the beginning of the Gov. Robert Bentley administration. He worked in the financial sector in Washington, D.C., New York, California, and Texas before returning to Alabama for a 22-year stint as an executive with Colonial BancGroup. In 2008, Boozer become a state financial advisor, and in 2009 began service as director of the Alabama Department of Finance.
