William O. Baldwin

Physician William O. Baldwin (1818-1868), a native of Montgomery, was a founding member of the Medical Association of the State of Alabama and served as its president. He was also the president of the American Medical Association in 1868, when this portrait was painted. In addition to his medical practice, he was a founder of the First National Bank of Montgomery and served as its president. He was the nephew of Gov. Benjamin Fitzpatrick.
