Huntsville native Walter B. Jones (1895-1977) poses here with the Hodges meteorite, the only extraterrestrial object to hit a human. Jones was a geologist and archaeologist who worked tirelessly to save and study the Mississippian-period burial mounds that are now preserved in Moundville Archaeological Park in Hale County. The Jones Museum at the site is named in his honor.
