The University of Alabama women's basketball team played its inaugural season in 1974. It has competed in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I women’s basketball tournament numerous times, and has sent more than a dozen players into the professional ranks. Known as the Crimson Tide, the team plays its home games at Coleman Coliseum in Tuscaloosa, Tuscaloosa County.
