Tennessee Valley High School was established in 1925 as the Tennessee Valley Primitive Baptist Institute, a school for Black children in Hillsboro, Lawrence County. It was renamed in the 1960s after desegregation. It is listed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage.
