Stockham Valves and Fittings, shown here with the Birmingham skyline behind it, was founded by William H. Stockham in 1903 and played a key role in the city's rise as a center of industry in Alabama. The Stockham family sold its interests in the company in the 1990s, and Stockham plants ceased production in 1997.
