Cicero and Elizabeth Croom pose for a picture in Florida, ca. 1840s. Cicero, who went by his middle name Stephens, served as a soldier in the Confederate Army during the Civil War and then practiced law in Mobile, Mobile County, until his death in 1884. Elizabeth became a critically acclaimed writer and educator.
