Stephen F. Hale

Stephen F. Hale (1816-1862) was a lawyer and state legislator from Eutaw, Greene County and served in the U.S. Army in the Mexican-American War in the 1840s and in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. He died from a wound suffered in the Battle of Gaines' Mill in Virginia. Hale County is named for him.
