Altwood is a historic home constructed in 1836 just outside Faunsdale, Marengo County. It was built for plantation owner Richard H. Adams as a dogtrot cabin and then expanded and updated to the Tidewater cottage style. It was relocated to Cedar Crest Farm in 1988 and was one of the 17 contributing properties to the Plantation Houses of the Alabama Canebrake and Their Associated Outbuildings Multiple Property Submission to the National Register of Historic Places, approved in 1994.
