Country music star Sonny James (1929-2016), a native of Hackleburg, Marion County, performs here with his band, the Southern Gentlemen, at New York's Palace Theatre in 1957. James produced a string of country music hits in a career that lasted until the early 1980s. He was inducted into the Alabama Music Hall of Fame in 1987 and the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2006.
