Ruby Pickens Tartt (1880-1974) at her home in Livingston, Sumter County. This photograph was taken by Ruby Terrill Lomax, the wife of ethnomusicologist John Lomax, in October 1940, when Tartt was approximately 60 years old. After her work with Lomax ended, Tartt worked as a librarian and donated her large collection of materials related to Alabama folk music to the University of West Alabama.
