Rube Burrow (ca. 1856-1890), photographed here in his 20s, was an outlaw whose gang robbed a number of trains and post offices across the South during the 1880s. His last robbery took place on a train in Pollard, Escambia County, in 1890, and he was killed by gunfire soon after in an attempted escape from jail in Linden, Marengo County.
